How to Fully Customize the Joomla 4 Admin Login Screen
Here's a tutorial for our Joomla friends that covers some of the main questions we had when we started using Joomla 4.
- How do I change the images in the Joomla 4 admin login screen?
- How do I change the text, “Joomla Administrator Login”?
- How do I remove or change the “Need Support?” box in the bottom left on the Joomla 4 admin login screen?
Find the answer to each of these questions below.
How do I change the images in the Joomla 4 admin login screen?
The Joomla 4 administrator login images are very similar to Joomla 3, but with one twist. To change these images head over to:
System -> Administrator Template Styles -> Atum – Default -> Image Settings
Here you can change your three login images.
- The Login Logo shows up above the login form.
- The Brand Large image shows up in the top left corner.
- The Brand Small image shows up in the top left corner on mobile.
This means that the brand images show up in the same place, but are used differently.
From looking at it, the current Joomla 4 large brand logo is 150px X 30px. Therefore, your logo will be squished to meet these specifications.
How do I change the text, “Joomla Administrator Login”?
The Joomla Administrator Login text can be changed or removed with a simple language override.
Go to:
System -> Languages: Overrides -> select administrator from the dropdown -> Click on New
You can then search for:
- Joomla Administrator Login as a value or
- TPL_ATUM_BACKEND_LOGIN as a constant.
In the search results, click on the only option that comes up.
On the left you can now create a new override by changing the text. If you would like to have nothing, you can leave it blank. Alternatively, you can change the text to whatever you want.
Click Save & Close to save your override. You can always come back and select your override to change it or remove it at a later time.
How do I remove or change the “Need Support?” box in the bottom left on the Joomla 4 admin login screen?
The “Need Support?” option in the bottom left of the Joomla 4 login screen was pleasantly developed.
The first thing you need to know is that the “Need Support?” option is in an administrator module. Within this module, you have the option to leave the text as is and change the links, or you can unpublish it and remove it completely.
How to change the links in the “Need Support?” option?
Head over to:
System -> Administrator Modules -> Login Support (on second page)
Here you can change the URL for “Joomla! Support Forum, Joomla! Documentation, Joomla! News.”
Note that changing the URL does not change the text.
How to remove the “Need Support?” option in Joomla 4 admin login?
If you're like us, you like to keep the login page clean. The best way to do this is to unpublish the module.
Head over to:
System -> Administrator Modules -> Login Support (on second page)
Unpublish the module.
How do I add custom text to the Joomla 4 admin login screen?
Now that we've removed the “Need Support?” option in the bottom left of the Joomla 4 login screen, we can replace it with our own custom content.
This space is the administrator sidebar module position, meaning we can now add modules into this position to have it display whatever we want it to.
We have not fully tested everything that works in this position, however, we have used that space to put a custom module with copyright info, contact info, etc.
